NatureMetrics launches Nature Strategy service to meet global demand for Nature Positive

Published: 2nd February 2023

NatureMetrics, the global nature intelligence technology company, has today announced the launch of a new Nature Strategy service, to support businesses in navigating the rapidly expanding nature monitoring and disclosure landscape.

Headed by industry powerhouse, Pippa Howard, former Director of Corporate Sustainability at Fauna & Flora International, the new service will provide guidance and best practice support for organisations looking to drive innovation in their nature strategy.

The offering will serve those looking to get ahead of upcoming reporting requirements, including new frameworks such as TNFD and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The landmark agreement formulated at COP15 marks a turning point for nature. Companies, governments and civil society will now need to close the gap between promises, compliance and delivery of nature-focused objectives. NatureMetrics’ new offering will provide businesses with the guidance and tools, at whatever stage of their journey, to build a clear roadmap to achieve robust nature positive goals.

NatureMetrics’ new service is available immediately to new and existing clients, supporting customers at all stages of their environmental journey.

The Nature Strategy service will include:

  • Helping companies and organisations to navigate the calls from regulators and civil society to deliver nature positive goals, across all sectors from financial services to FMCG
  • Tailored advice and technical guidance around nature disclosure frameworks including the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
  • Horizon scanning to help businesses understand and position themselves against upcoming risks and opportunities
  • Mapping out biodiversity and nature positive strategy recommendations to support the development of blueprints to achieve environmental commitments
  • Biodiversity monitoring strategies and recommendations on the most effective approaches and technologies to meet these ambitions

Pippa brings with her deep nature and biodiversity consulting experience, working at the interface of business and nature for over two decades, including 15 years in corporate sustainability at Fauna & Flora International, and senior sustainability leadership positions at Nature Accountability and Cambridge University’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

This offering builds on the launch of NatureMetrics’ new Nature Performance Monitoring service, announced at COP15 in Montreal, which turns the complexities of nature into meaningful insights to help organisations clearly understand their impact on nature.

NatureMetrics has standardised and scaled eDNA technology, which captures tiny traces of all species, across the whole web of life, from bacteria to blue whales, to provide an accurate understanding of the state of nature within site-based assets. NatureMetrics applies expert data science and visualisation to the environmental data it gathers on the ground, to make it accessible and reportable through simple metrics.

Following the new global framework announcement, a large number of customers have already signed up to the new monitoring service, providing them with a simple and easy way to understand and report on their nature risks and opportunities.

NatureMetrics has worked with over 700 clients across 85 countries, catering for a diverse range of sectors, from renewable energy and extractives through to infrastructure and conservation.
